The veterinary medical directive is an important document. It is not very often that a medical emergency occurs. It is our policy to call the pet owner about any issues that are out of the ordinary. When people are traveling it is not always possible to make immediate contact. Sometimes we need to leave a message and wait for a call back. This is usually not a problem.

However, there are times when there is a medical emergency. This is often associated with the older animal. It is in these instances when immediate medical decisions need to be made.
